Providence Anesthesiology Associates Acquires Mobile Anesthesiology
Providence Anesthesiology Associates’ division of Office-Based Anesthesia now to provide care to more than 70 practices throughout the Carolinas beginning July 1.
Charlotte, N.C., July 5, 2018 – Providence Anesthesiology Associates (PAA), a private, physician-led practice of 70 anesthesiologists, announced today that it has acquired Mobile Anesthesiologists of the Carolinas, growing its office-based anesthesia group from 8 practices in Charlotte, to more than 70 practices throughout the state. In addition to more locations, eight physician anesthesiologists and approximately 20 support staff will join Providence Anesthesiology Associates.
“We are thrilled to partner with such a reputable, and well-established group,” said Dr. James Benonis, President of Providence Anesthesiology Associates. “Mobile Anesthesiologists of the Carolinas aligns with our approach to patient care which is rooted in the triple-aim of improved outcomes, decreased costs and improved patient satisfaction, all while providing the highest level of safety and quality of care. We look forward to offering many more solutions for our patients’ needs.”
Office-based anesthesia is used for a wide variety of elective procedures that can be performed in an office setting, as opposed to a hospital. PAA will be providing anesthesia in gynecology, GI, urology, plastic surgery, general surgery, dental and ear, nose and throat offices, among others. This option offers significant advantages for both patient and provider, including convenience and cost savings – without compromising the same safety standards required in a hospital setting.
“We were drawn to the strength and cohesion of Providence Anesthesiology Associates, as well as their commitment to exceptional quality and the highest safety standards,” said Dr. Jonathan McMullen, President of Mobile Anesthesiologists of the Carolinas. “Both Mobile and PAA have decades of dedication to the mission of evidence-based medicine and delivering safe, quality care whether that be in an office, outpatient or hospital setting.
PAA has also entered into a management agreement with Ambulatory Management Solutions (AMS) to provide support for PAA’s Office-Based Anesthesia division. “We were drawn to what the potential of Providence Anesthesiology Associates, Mobile Anesthesiologists of the Carolinas, and AMS partnering could accomplish in today’s healthcare environment. This triad will now be able to offer the best and highest quality service in any surgical environment from the hospital to the office,” said Scott Mayer, CEO of Ambulatory Management Solutions. “PAA’s longstanding reputation of optimal quality of care and patient safety in the hospital setting is the perfect fit for our focus on the needs of the growing ambulatory market. We are looking forward to an exciting future together.”
“All of our physicians are among the elite in the field of anesthesiology, all board-certified or board-eligible, and many fellowship trained,” said Mark L. Casner, CEO at Providence Anesthesiology Associates. “And with all of our surgical procedures, ongoing performance measurement is part of our culture. Our physician anesthesiologist is with the patient throughout the entire surgical process, providing reliable care from pre- to post-surgery. These partnerships with Mobile Anesthesiologists of the Carolinas and AMS only further the offering for such excellence in care.”
Patients can continue to expect the highest level of reliability, not just while they are under anesthesia, but through dedicated patient care from the moment surgery is scheduled to the pre-operative consultation, post-operative care, discharge and beyond. In addition, for each anesthetic experience, 37 clinical quality indicators are measured for each patient, delivering the best possible results. And through Providence Anesthesiology Associates’ expertise in pharmacology, efficiency is paramount, allowing surgeons to maximize the number of procedures scheduled.
